5 things you must know before you visit Samoa for your destination wedding

1. Clothing - Every bride has been working hard for weeks, months or even years to get in

the best looking bod for her wedding day! however, when swimming in public beaches you will need to cover up with a sarong or light clothing to not offend any locals, but not to worry! You can still flaunt your best swimsuit at your hotel, resort and selected tourist attractions.


2. Sundays – Samoa is a Christian nation and therefore Sunday is a sacred day for rest, you may still go exploring the beautiful island, however, expect to see most shops and business closed.


3. Culture - Samoa is very lucky to be a nation still rich in culture, one thing you may spot while touring the island is seashell trumpet also known in Samoan as a ‘pu’. Each evening at approximately 6 -7 pm each village will have a curfew where a selected male will sit outdoors and blow a conch shell trumpet to alert the villagers that it is time to go home for evening prayers. After approximately 20 minutes the shell will be blown again to end the curfew.


4. Weather – You guessed it! Samoa is exactly how your imagining it, very humid & very tropical. Always carry around a bottle of water and protect your skin from getting burnt while swimming especially leading up to your big day. Samoa has two distinct seasons, with relatively dry season between June and September and a rainy season between October and May.


5. Don’t stay standing – Planning your big day can have you constantly up on your feet running errands. However, when it comes to eating, try indulge by sitting down as standing while you eat can be seen distasteful in majority of Polynesian cultures.
